We’re looking for an Associate Commercial Data Business Analyst to join our Commercial & Marketing team either working remotely or based in our Salford Quays, Manchester or Haywards Heath, West Sussex offices. 

In this role you’ll play a key role in bridging the gap between stakeholders and the Commercial Data team by gathering and managing business requirements, ensuring smooth communication, and supporting the delivery of data-driven initiatives. This role is crucial for facilitating the team's agile processes, leading stand-ups, managing backlogs, and ensuring that priorities are communicated and aligned across the business. You’ll also support the team with administrative tasks in Azure DevOps, ensuring that development workflows are optimised and efficient.

What’s involved:

  • Engage with business stakeholders to understand and document requirements for data initiatives and projects, ensuring clarity and alignment with business goals
  • Serve as the key point of contact between the Commercial Data team and teams within the Commercial and Marketing pillar, providing regular updates and ensuring transparency around priorities, progress, and challenges
  • Facilitate workshops and discussions to ensure clarity and alignment on project objectives and deliverables
  • Own and manage the backlog in Azure DevOps, including prioritisation of tasks, sprint planning, and ensuring that PBIs, features and epics are up-to-date and aligned with team objectives
  • Lead daily stand-ups, ensuring clear communication of progress, blockers, and task allocation across the team
  • Assist in planning sprint activities, managing timelines, and coordinating with developers and analysts to ensure efficient delivery of tasks
  • Ensure all team members and stakeholders are aware of current priorities and any changes that may impact ongoing work, ensuring alignment across departments
  • Support process refinements within the Commercial Data team by identifying bottlenecks or inefficiencies and recommending improvements
  • Comply with the requirements, and act in accordance with, the Group Code of Conduct and Fitness and Propriety policies at all times
  • Ensure compliance with Company Policies, Values and guidelines and other relevant standards/ regulations at all times
  • Participate in annual staff appraisal, staff development and in-service training activities in line with the Commercial Data Team Competency Framework
  • Any other reasonable duties

Experience & knowledge

  • Experience working in a Business Analyst role, ideally within the insurance sector
  • Familiarity with business analysis frameworks and tools for gathering requirements and managing stakeholder engagement
  • Experience working with Agile methodologies (i.e. Scrum) and facilitating stand-ups and sprint planning
  • Knowledge of backlog management, particularly using tools such as Azure DevOps, or similar platforms
  • Understanding of data projects and familiarity with data-driven environments (desirable but not essential)
  • Basic understanding of data analysis and familiarity with BI tools (i.e. Power BI) advantageous

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders alike
  • Strong organisational skills, with an ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with developers, data leadership, and business teams, fostering collaboration and teamwork
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, agile commercial environment and capable of adapting to changing priorities quickly
  • Ability to track progress meticulously, ensuring that tasks are completed in line with expectations and timelines
